• I was diagnosed with oral thrush?

For oral thrush, I needed two different types of anti-fungal medicines for my condition. I took Nystatin Oral Suspension, & Fluconazole for this condition. What is the maximum time (how long) should I take the first anti-fungal med for? Before starting a second anti-fungal med? How many weeks should I be taking the Nystatin?

For oral thrush I would recommend a three times per day rinse with Nystatin and spit but I would have it compounded with Xylitol instead of sugar. I would not start with any systemic medicines, only swish and spit preparations until I know more about the infection. I would test for yeast and you can do that through HomeDentalExam.com and go from there. Why do you have thrush? Doug Doug Thompson, DDS, FAAMM, ABAAHP 3684 W Maple Bloomfield Hills, MI 48301

That answer would best come from your treating clinician. Standard treatment time for oral candida or thrush is a 14-day regimen of an oral antifungal rinse.

Depends on the dosage. Answers should be on the prescription bottle. Also can ask your pharmacist or the prescribing doctor
