• Ibuprofen overdose

I had an abscess tooth and couldn’t get into the dentist for about 2 days. I took probably more ibuprofen yesterday than I should have, but it was the only thing that helped. Fast forward today, I have diarrhea, some nausea and some stomach aches. No other symptoms like heartburn or ringing in my ears. Should I be concerned? Or just no more pain meds (got to the dentist and I’m good now).

Your symptoms fit well with Ibuprofen side effects. If you are comfortable with it, stop taking Ibuprofen and see if the symptoms do not disapear. If not, you will need to get a gastroscopy done to see if you have gotten an ulcer. On the other hand, you could also get a prescription for 40 mg. pantoprazole and take one daily for 3 months. That should fix your symptoms. IF you tell yourdoctor your story, you should have not trouble getting the prescription.

Ibuprofen and other non steroidal anti-inflammatory could cause sever irritation to your GI tract up to and including an ulcer. If you still have abdominal pain seek medical attention. In most cases this is temporary irritation that will heal a 72 hours. Please be careful with all NSAID as they can have very irritating affects on stomach even at recommended doses.
