Is it safe to infuse drinks with incense? I know it's dangerous to inhale but some bars will infuse cocktails with the smoke. What are the dangers of that?
Im no expert here but off the top of my head this doesnt seem like a great idea. Incense isnt edible most of them of which Im aware anyway so infusing a drink with it doesnt vibe well with me. Trust your intuition. If it seems off it probably is.
I can not speak to that as I do not know the answer and it does not relate to acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. Sorry. Dr. Ruth
I don't think it's safe.
I would check with the manufacturer of the incense. Every ingredient and every stabilizer could have different health impacts.
Interesting question. Most incense is not meant for human consumption, at least I am not aware of any. The incense is infused with essential oils, typically. Only essential oils processed and approved for human consumption may be safely taken internally. There is no research to say yea or nay on this practice, that said I would not do such a thing. incense when burned in a room will diffuse so the amount getting into the lungs is minimal. Babies, small children and animals should not be around diffused some essential oils at all. Off the cuff I would say if a person has any sensitivity to smoke, or the specific fragrance they are using they should avoid the room and foodbeverages completely. I am sure what they are doing is not FDA approved not that the FDA is great. If you do this look for any signs like dizziness, nausea, difficulty breathing, or headaches then leave and do not do this. If you have no symptoms and are ok the next morning, then just be mindful anytime you go there. A person can be affected just by being in a room burning the incense, not just by ingesting something infused with the smoke and scent. The most significant symptoms might be caused either by the smoke or allergies to the fragrance.
Interesting question
There are many types of Incense.
And responses vary widely from person to person.
Consult an allergist.
I have no idea.
No.
No.
Incense might contain unknown chemicals that might be toxic to the human body so I would not recommend this combination. And if you are drinking, drink moderately and use Uber.
Basically, it is not safe to combine drinks with incense, but depends on the chemicals or the material that is used for incense.
Sounds like a fleeting fad, like sucking washer pods. You are right to be cautious, follow your instincts when you're not sure. Incense is made of herbal and wood powder, fragrance material, adhesive powder, and bamboo stick. I wouldn't want to ingest any of those things.
Some infuse drinks they put dry ice inside. Carbon dioxide solids commonly known as Dry Ice. Swallowing dry ice is for more dangerous than holding it. Dry ice can freeze tissue in the mouth, esophagus ,and stomach. The most significant risk, however, is the sublimation of dry ice into gaseous carbon dioxide. An extreme increase in stress can burst your stomach and even kill you. Dry ice sinks to the bottom of the drink, so it's sometimes found in special mist-effect cocktails. The biggest danger is probably when people try to " smoke " dry ice, they put a small piece of dry ice in their mouth to take a puff, but there is a real risk of accidentally swallowing dry ice.
