• Inhalers?

I'm at a care facility for physical therapy. I was told that I could keep my Albuterol inhaler at my table next to me. Then I was told that I couldn't. Were they wrong in changing their mind again?

Hello, I know that Albuterol is a normal every day medication like Tylenol or Advil to a lot of people, but Albuterol is a bronchodilator. It is important that the nursing staff keeps track of your usage of this medication. Especially if you have had a blood clot in your lung. They need to be aware of your breathing status and watch for signs and symptoms of respiratory distress. The use of the Albuterol unmonitored can mask the signs and symptoms of another blood clot forming or of developing respiratory distress. I hope this answers your question. Crystal Esquivel, RN.

You need your albuterol close for use, but the doctor has to write on the order that its for personal use at bedside. Patient make keep at bedside. Otherwise the nurses cannot leave it. Andrea J. Davis.

You need to know why the change. Ask the pros/cons of the M.D’s.
