Colonoscopy is a low stimulation procedure. Usually it's done with IV sedation. On rare occasions, such as pediatric patient or uncooperative, developmentally delayed patient, it could be performed with MAC or general anesthesia. And since it's minor procedure it considered very safe , especially in healthy population, while used as a screening for colon malignancy.
