I want to change the shape of my nose. Is rhinoplasty recovery painful?
There is a fair amount of facial pain, nose bridge pain, and sometimes tooth pain that follows a rhinoplasty or nose job. And it really depends on how much they have to do how much tissue theyre pushing and pulling. I think that certainly if septoplasty or you need repair of deviated septum, that increases the amount of pain. A simple shaving may have less pain involved than when the architecture inside gets moved around. The other uncomfortable part of the nose job, are the splints that are left in for about a week following the procedure they are inert made of silicone are very safe and actually come out fairly smoothly, and they are large. The large object inside your nose may cause a fair amount of discomfort. That being said, I have two close family members who have had this recently and both needed serious pain medicines only for one dose afterwards, and tolerated it quite well with Tylenol and Motrin. Of course everyones different and you should talk to your doctor about your potential circumstances. Good luck and good health. Dr. CK
Not really, depending on the severity. I had mine fixed and had minimal pain. Watch for large amounts of bleeding and go to an ER if that happens. Usually it’s a short surgery with little to no complications. You might want to speak to an ENT if you have further questions.
