• Is watery discharge a sign of pregnancy?

I am continuously having watery discharge from my vagina. I have also missed my period but the home pregnancy test is negative. Could I be pregnant? Should I consult with my OBGYN?

Watery discharge is not a sign of pregnancy. Give it a few weeks and if no period, consult your gyn

Most likely not, but every woman may have a unique physiology. If you missed a period, repeat the pregnancy test at least after day 35 of your regular cycle and see your doctor for the watery discharge.

Yes, and have a blood test for pregnancy.

You should see your gynecologist. It could mean an infection or cyst.

Vaginal discharge, depending upon the characteristics of the discharge can signal anything from ovulation, infection, hormonal changes and pregnancy. Yes, you should consult with your GYN to make sure that there is no problem and to get peace of mind that this may be a normal healthy response.

Certainly, your discharge can change with pregnancy as a result of hormonal influences or other changes such as increased blood flow to the vaginal area, but can also be a negative sign depending where in the pregnancy you are. For example, once a pregnancy is into the second trimester or later, a change in discharge, especially if it has a watery consistency, will need to be evaluated to make sure it's not amniotic fluid. Make sure to consult with your provider.

Dear patient,

Changes in vagina discharge can be associated with pregnancy, but you need to be evaluated by your ob/gyn, as it can be a sign of infections, or other gynecological conditions.

Watery discharge can have many etiologies from cercical inflammation to infections to leaking membranes in later pregnancy. Also, sometimes a retained tampon will also give such a discharge, but usually also gas of a very foul odor. See your Gyn for a complete evaluation.
