• Managing ADHD?

I currently have ADHD and I work as a MA at an ob-gyn office. I lose focus and my mind is all cluttered. I took Adderall before and it doesn't help. Do over-the-counter brain supplements work? I tried Neutriva.

I am a non prescribing psychologist so cant help you with medication, however I would like to alert you to the benefits of Neurofeedback NFB as a treatment modality. Its highly efficacious as a treatment modality for ADHDADD. You can go to eegInfo.com and read all about it and possibly find a NFB provider in your area. Theyre located in Woodland, CA. If Adderall didn't help then it may be the wrong medication or dosage for you. It may also indicate that ADHD is not the primary diagnosis for you. It may be beneficial for you to have an assessment to determine diagnostically what is going on and recommendations based on the findings. Melanie Sholtis, Psy.D. Licensed Psychologist 240-210-9003

Provigil (Modafinil) should help you without the side effects of stimulants.

I really don't know if brain supplements would help. I would recommend learning mindfulness techniques as they are taught by Thich Nhat Hanh and Jon Kabat Zinn. These techniques of awareness can calm your nervous system and allow it to have the energy for better focus.

Dear Madam,

Sorry to hear that you are suffering from ADHD and medicines have not been helpful. I appreciate your concern about work being affected by a cluttered brain losing focus. I need to inform you that I am a licensed Psychologist and my licenses are in three states that do not allow psychologists to prescribe medicine. So, this is out of my practice scope. So, you need to consult with your PCP or Psychiatrist regarding the over the counter medicines. As you find a psychiatrist in your area or consult your PCP, you may want to start practicing Mindful Meditation and Relaxation which will help in being focused in the present moment.
Take care and remain safe.
