I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis but a year ago. I’ve been on methotrexate orally and prednisone often on with it until the methotrexate just seems to tear up my stomach. I went off of it for a while and now they want to give me the methotrexate shot since the symptoms are returning I am about to go finally on a vacation where I will be by the ocean in the sun a lot and I read that methotrexate doesn’t mix with the sun. Should I avoid taking this methotrexate shot since I haven’t had the shots before and I don’t know what to expect?
Good morning, I am not familiar with your medical history nor am I a prescriber of these medications. I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner, however I would ask a patient would the benefit of the medication outweigh the risks? Also, if your trip is a week or so, just take it when you return. I hope this helps. Enjoy your vacation.
