• My body temperature is consistently low?

When I get hot for some reason I swear but whenever I check my temperature it’s always low. Normally I run 97. I haven’t really gotten above 98 for about a year now. But recently it won’t go above 96.6. I’ve bought new thermometers and had double check but it’s the same. But the last two days it has dipped to 94.0 a few times. I have asthma with an emergency inhaler. The only strange thing my doctors asked about was a low platelet count but only by a few points, they said. Nothing concerning. But I’ve read that this isn’t a normal temp. If it helps. When I used to donate platelets I needed to take an iron pill to bring it up. But back then my temperature was pretty normal around 99 usually.

I hear your concern. If youre not having other symptoms varying body temperature that deviates from 98.6 if ok. 98.6 degrees is an average, with some running warmer and some running cooler. I definitely recommend some lab work. I would look at your thyroid with a TSH, free T3 and free T4, a CBC with ferritin and iron studies. Your temperature also depends on how youre checking it. For oral thermometers, make sure you havent had anything to eat or drink for 1530 minutes. This can still be off by 0.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Infrared Tympanic ear thermometers are typically pretty accurate, but only if you dont have ear wax that could block the reading and you have to ensure proper placement in the ear canal.
