No. The Bone Density test measures the amount of calcium crystal there is in the bone to look at your risk for fractures. The Bone Scan looks at the metabolic turnover of the bone crystal looking for evidence of illnesses in the bone such as degenerative disease, infection, injury, or cancer.

To whom it may concern, Nuclear bone scan or simply called bone scan is a nuclear medicine study in which the bone metabolism is evaluated, with the most common indications being the evaluation of metastatic disease in cancer patients or the possibility of bone infection. Bone density test, bone density scan or DEXA scan is a radiologic technique to measure bone density with the indication of evaluating osteopenia (lower than normal bone mass) or osteoporosis (when it gets more severe).
