I've had a pain at my xiphoid process. What causes this?

Unless you have a relevant trauma to your xiphoid process, the only other likely explanation is a so-called facet joint syndrome. Most of these happen out of the blue and we are not able to explain the how and why. A 10-day session with Ibuprofen 600 mg. x 3 daily should fix it. If not, you should seek medical attention and get an X-ray done. If you are unable to tolerate Ibuprofen, you can try Paracetamol 500 mg. 2 x 4 for 10 days. A combination of Ibuprofen and Paracetamol can also be quite effective.
