Pulsing in neck?
I notice a pulsing in my neck between the clavicles. The CT chest showed normal aorta and focally prominent fat above the manubrium; also subcentimeter thyroid nodules. I have a sono of the neck scheduled. I also have GERD. My pulse in the wrist is normal. Why do I see pulsing in my neck? No symptoms.

Pulsing in the anterior neck, just above the sternal manubrium, could be seen infrequently in healthy adults, especially those with lower BMI, as well as with some disorders. In the absence of symptoms, normal radial (wrist) pulse, and no significant findings on neck CT, the most likely explanation would be a normal variant. Patients with aortic insufficiency would have a jumping pulse at the wrist, groin or soft palate.
