• Random brief lower lip numbness?

A couple of weeks ago, I began to experience random brief periods of numbness in my lower lip. The numbness is near the front of the lower lip, in the middle about a finger-width wide. It's in the exact same place every time.

There's no consistent action that seems to trigger it. Each period of numbness lasts only for a second or two and it's a fairly mild numbness. I still have feeling if I touch it, but less than normal. Sometimes it happens every hour, other times it will only happen like once a day. It has been happening most days.

What is going on?

Thank you for sharing your experience. I can understand how concerning it must be to experience any kind of numbness, especially when its happening frequently and without a clear cause. However, as an RN, Im not able to provide medical advice or diagnosis. I strongly recommend that you speak with your primary care provider about your symptoms. They will be able to assess your situation more thoroughly and determine if any further evaluation is necessary. If you experience any worsening symptoms or new concerns, please do not hesitate to go to the nearest emergency room. Your health and wellbeing are very important, and its best to seek the guidance of a healthcare professional. Take care.
