• Rectal surgery?

I had rectal surgery for rectal prolapse and hemorrhoids about 2.5 weeks ago. I am supposed to soak in warm water for 20 minutes three times a day. The discharge instructions say to do this for 3 weeks. How do I clean my rectum after that? One site mentioned using water. What is the best way to clean my rectum without soaking?

Usually at the three week mark after surgery you can resume your normal methods of anal hygiene. I always recommend continuing with bidet style cleaning for my patients and advise to "pad" dry instead of wiping.

You can use baby wipes or wet toilet paper
