Wow. That is an interesting topic. Not knowing much about this one, I made sure to read on it to appropriately answer questions for you. Keep in mind that I am a MA School Psychologist. Thus, for PhD, M.D. and D.O. thoughts, please consult with your physician.

Keep in mind that benzyl benzoate refers to the lotion or ointment if there was a rash or other exposure to something that needs to be soothed on the skin. A product known as Benzout exists that mechanics use. Around gasoline, fuel, and other products known by mechanics, it is flammable and a dangerous inhalant if misused. Thus, it is important to make the distinction.

For preventing the discomfort scabies might have on the skin, the ointment is best. Most of what I found for practical advice came from links such as this httpswww.mayoclinic.orgdrugssupplementsbenzylbenzoatetopicalroutedescriptiondrg20062209. Similar to other medications that have side effects, you are to only use benzyl benzoate as intended. There is a prescription strength form, yet using it in small amounts does not require a prescription. There are concerns, though, if misused. Here are the findings

1. Do you use too much.
2. Do not take more often than the recommended amount on the label. If you obtained the prescription form, do not use more than prescribed.
3. Because scabies itch, you might have a tendency to want to use more than you need. Only use the amount specified per the instructions or per the prescription.
4. Some have been known to have allergic reactions to certain ingredients in benzyl benzoate. Thus, discontinue use.

If you use as instructed or as prescribed, and you have discomfort, you might consider any of the alternatives listed here httpsemedicine.medscape.comarticle1109204medication. However, as with anything else, you must use as instructed, or side effects could occur.

Please message again if you have further questions.

I am very sorry but this question is not within my speciality. You may be better contacting a dermatologist to address this issue. Best wishes to you, Dr. John Dsurney

Try another application. Go online and google it. And then change your lifestyle because scabies are caused from being around filth, etc. Have him shower at least once every day and every night before bed. Clean sheets at least once a week and clean towels every 3 days at least. Wash hair every night before bed.

Enjoy.
