I have depression and want to treat it. Should I go to therapy for depression?
I would highly encourage therapy if you are feeling depressed.
I recommend counseling but many people think that counseling alone will help them. However. I have about a 70% success rate by addressing depression by various life style changes and addressing cognition. I highly recommend a book called The depression cure" by Stephen llardi. However, I recommend an assessment by a mental health professional as well.

Most people will experience depression at some point in their life, therapy is a very effective approach to keeping your mental wellness.
Good Afternoon! I definitely would encourage therapy to help you treat depression. However, that is your decision to make. There are different types of depression. I would encourage you to determine how well or how difficult it is for you to cope with the current levels of depression you experienced. I want you to know that seeking professional help for depression can be beneficial as it can help you not only learn how to cope in a healthier manner, but better understand what triggers you and learning how to prevent those triggers. Therapy can help get to the root cause of how depression impacts you and having the proper information and education can be helpful in not only alleviating symptoms, but helping your healing process. All the best on your journey!!
I would advise for you to talk to your primary care doctor first if you are feeling anxious, down, or stressed for more than several weeks. Or if it starts to interfere with your home or work life. Therapy and other strategies can help.
