I have high blood protein. Is it serious? What could be the cause?
The causes if high protein in the blood is meat consumption, dehydration, amyloidosis (abnormal proteins in your organs), hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HVAIDS, monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) Multiple Myeloma, etc. Possible treatment is change in your diet, blood pressure medication, weight loss, diabetes medication, and dialysis. Thank you.
The term "high protein" is not specific enough.
What's important is the nature / name of the protein.
Some high protein levels can be very serious, signaling a potential malignancy.
It may be a sign of multiple myeloma. Your physician should order a serum protein electrophoresis to see if that’s your diagnosis and if it is refer you to a medical oncologist.
