I have gum swelling after using a flosser. What could cause gum swelling after using a flosser?

Usually it's being too aggressive with the flosser. Always try to bend the floss into a "C" shape around the contours of the tooth. Just moving it up and down can cut right through the gingival triangle. This hurts, swells, and takes a few days to heal.

Swelling may be caused by improper use of the flosser or driving debris into the area causing a periodontal abscess.

Continue flossing and this will eventually stop.

You have probably irritated your gums by pushing on them too hard.
