I was diagnosed with endocarditis. What is the treatment for endocarditis?
Hospitalization and treatment with IV antibiotics
Antibiotics and sometimes surgery. If you have this diagnosis, I hope you have a provider who can direct you to your best treatment options.
Endocarditis is an infection of the inner lining of the heart, often involving the heart valves. Treatment typically involves prolonged courses of intravenous antibiotics, sometimes for 46 weeks, depending on the causative organism. In some cases, surgery may be necessary to repair or replace damaged heart valves.
Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to prevent serious complications. If diagnosed, your healthcare provider will develop a treatment plan based on the severity and specific bacteria involved.

Hello, how have you been diagnosed with endocarditis? Please explain
Medications and follow the directions of the cardiologist.
The typical treatment for endocarditis is to be sure that your valves are OK so evaluation to make sure that they havent been damaged and dont need to be replaced. Next making sure that the source of the endocarditis has been discontinued whether thats a skin infection or IV drug abuse we have to stop the source of the bacteria. There are of course autoimmune types of inflammation of the heart but thats not typically endocarditis although it can be. Finally if its bacterial which most endocarditis is, then at least six weeks of IV antibiotics are usually recommended sometimes more. Your specific circumstances of course should be discussed with your doctor. Good luck and good health, Dr. CK
