Answer: Morphine via IV while in hospital after surgery, then round-the-clock Tylenol. The patient was also encouraged to ambulate, or do other activities to distract him from pain like watching TV, reading a book, do deep breathing exercises, frequent changing of position while in bed to name a few.

Tylenol and NSAIDs, example, Motrin or Aleve.
