Vascular surgery involves a wide spectrum of surgical procedures from varicose vein stripping (done with local anesthetic and IV sedation) to repair of a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm (done under general anesthesia with invasive monitoring, close hemodynamic control, and possible transfusion of blood products).
