Chiropractic care isnt one-size-fits-all. When to stop depends on why you started in the first place. For most people, care falls into two main phases: acute care and maintenance care. Acute care is what we begin when youre in painlike lower back pain from lifting something wrong, sitting too long, or sleeping awkwardly. During this phase, the goal is to reduce inflammation, restore motion in the joints, and relieve muscle tightness. Most patients feel significant relief within a few visits. But just because the pain starts to fade doesnt mean everything is fully healed. Thats why we often recommend a short course of care even after symptoms improveto stabilize the area and prevent future flare-ups. Once pain is under control and function is restored, you may choose to stop treatmentand thats perfectly fine. But many patients opt to continue with maintenance care. This is like getting a tune-up for your spine. Regular chiropractic adjustments help keep your joints moving the way they should, which supports muscle balance, reduces tension, and helps prevent pain from coming back. Its a bit like brushing your teethyou dont wait until you have a cavity to start taking care of them. Similarly, keeping your spine healthy helps you stay active, mobile, and pain-free long-term. So when should you stop chiropractic care? When your goals have been met, and you feel confident maintaining your spinal health on your own. But if you want to stay proactiveespecially if you have a physically demanding job, chronic stress, or past injuriesongoing care can be a smart investment in your health.

To determine when an individual stops care with chiropractic is usually determined by the patient, the doctor, or both. Ideally, it's important to follow through with the doctors recommendations of care for the main reasoning of seeking treatment. Sometimes patient's will stop or pause care when they feel better however, this may not be beneficial long term. The nervous system is about 80% function and 20% feeling, therefore if it was decided to stop care after a change of feeling was occurring then this may give the patient or yourself a false path to health and healing. Wellness care in chiropractic is well known for ongoing patients that see results. Wellness can range from 1x/wk to 1x/quarter depending on the patient's case. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

you should have an action plan with your doctor.
1- Are you on corrective care? (ask your doctor- his/ her response is based off of your X-rays)
2- After finishing a corrective care program based on your end results your doctor will place you on maintenance program of 1/ week to 1x/ month
3- regular alignment is like dental checkups/ cleaning its a life time maintenance.
4- keeping healthy habits of physical, chemical and emotional well-being as well as good ergonomics, determine the frequency of your visits / year

Usually you stop when you are out of pain and your back is stable. There are certain back conditions that require life long care. Due to an injury that will never heal properly. For example.disc injuries require life long Chiropractic treatment once every two weeks, sometimes.
