• Why do my gums hurt and bleed when I brush?

Every time I brush my teeth gums hurt and bleed. What could be the cause?

Gingival inflammation due to plaque or other factors - medical problems, medications,etc.

You obviously have gingivitis and or more severe periodontal disease. Visit your American Dental association dentist.

You probably have gingivitis/ inflammation of the gums. You should floss every tooth after brushing at least once a day. You should also have your dentist do a check up to see if you need a deep cleaning. If you brush and floss and have regular visits with your dentist and your gums still bleed, then I suggest you have a medical consultation and blood work up.

Most likely you have periodontal disease, which is caused by bacteria.
