• Is it advisable to start my daughter on vitamin D supplements?

I understand vitamin D deficiencies are commonplace. At what age should I start the supplement for my daughter, if at all? What should be the frequency? She's 6 years old now and takes a kids multivitamin.

Everyone should get 400-600international units per day. That may be already in her multivitamin. Make sure she gets three calcium servings per day to build strong bones.

Vitamin D deficiency is common if there's poor dairy intake and lack of outside activities. If she does sports and drinks her milk and you already have her on a multivitamin, this should be sufficient. If she never goes out and doesn't have dairy in her diet, supplement with vitamin D 400 u daily.
