• Anal fissure after surgery?

I had my anal fissure fixed using surgery around 4 days ago. Only yesterday did I start experiencing itchiness in my anus. I don’t know why it’s happening or how to not let it happen. Please help!

Itching is part of the healing process and should not last long. Alternatively you may be suffering from skin damage from the flush out process. That responds to Calmoseptine and / or tolical steroids

Hi,

Perianal itching post-op is not uncommon and could be just postoperative healing. I usually tell my patients to use over the counter anti itch ointments like calmoseptine. I also advise my patients to avoid increase ingestion of food and drinks, which can cause perianal itching like coffee, orange juice, tomatoes, and spicy foods.
Hope you feel better!

Itchiness is expected and part of the recovery from the surgery. You can apply Vaseline or Aquaphor. As the wound heals the itching should gradually resolve. Good luck with the recovery process.

Consider calling your surgeon to get into his clinic sooner for a check. This may be normal but hard to say without an exam.
