• Atorvastatin?

Can atorvastatin be broken in half? They are not scored - I learned in school that if it's not scored it shouldn't be broken because the medicine is not evenly distributed - of course I was in nursing school over 30 years ago - has this info changed?

to my knowledge, if a patient needs their statin crushed such as if they have dysphagia and cannot swallow a pill, it is possible to crush in that scenario. generally it is to be taken whole. If you are unsure I would ask a pharmacist, they will have the best answer!

No, this tablet should not be broken in half. You are correct, the medication will not be equally metabolized in the body.
