• Is binge eating in adolescent children normal?

My son is 14 years old and I have noticed him binging on food lately. Is this normal? What should I really do?

I don’t have enough information to answer completely. Is he on medication? Is he obese? Does he skip meals then binge? Does he have anxiety which triggers him to binge? Does he purge (vomit afterward)? What does he “binge” on? Is there a family history of eating disorder?
In other words, it could be ok if he needs the extra calories, but likely represents a concern, likely psychologic (anxiety) or an eating disorder.
