• My mom is suffering blood in urine. Is it due to UTI or Xarelto?

My mother is 54 years old. Recently she was diagnosed with a UTI which was treated with the necessary medications. Now she has been suffering from blood in the urine. What could be the cause? Is it a UTI that is triggering this or could it be something else?

Most likely is Xarelto. However, she should also be seen by a urologist, who will determine the need for a cystoscopy and a renal ultrasound. On several occasions, those procedures will determine the etiology without a doubt. I cannot eliminate the possibility of another condition, causing hematuria (blood in the urine).

Yes, UTI can cause blood in the urine, but other causes should be ruled out
