I am a 20 year old female. I want to know if anesthesia can cause long term anxiety?

Under normal conditions, anesthetics do not cause long-term anxiety. However, like any situation, if you had a bad experience the first time, it can always make you anxious for the following experience.

No this is not a common side effect from anesthesia. Unless however you experienced something traumatic like awakening during a general anesthetic.

Anesthesia itself should not cause long term anxiety but the circumstances for which the anesthetic is given might lead to anxiety (fears about surgery and diagnosis, pain).
