Can MRIs of the brain detect mental illnesses?
My friend's psychiatrist believes that he has schizophrenia and wants to confirm it with a functional MRI. Do these imaging tests really detect mental illnesses?

May be helpful. Not sure how specific. Also can rule out other problems such as a tumor.
Routinely they do not for the majority of these conditionsHowever new research with different pulse sequences are showing promising results
