Is there anything that can be done to prevent getting shingles?

We have effective vaccines to protect against Shingles, most recently Shingrix. Although no vaccine is 100% effective this is your best assurance on preventing the disease. If you were to develop shingles once vaccinated, it would likely be less severe and less likely to cause post herpetic neuralgia
