Can someone suddenly awaken during general anesthesia?

I am a 38-year-old male and I am afraid of general anesthesia. Can someone suddenly awaken during general anesthesia?

This rare complication is not supposed to happen, but could happen. More frequent in emergency surgeries, i.e., cesarean section.

Technically, yes. For a healthy person undergoing a routine surgery, the chance is extremely rare.
