Yes, quite simply. The procedure is called lower eyelid plasty or lower eyelid blepharoplasty. There are three fat pads in each lower eyelid, and these can be surgically removed. Bags are generally inherited and can be present quite early in life. I once performed a lower eyelid plasty for a prominent bags in an 18-year-old young man. The good thing about the surgery is that the fat, once removed, is usually gone permanently.

Yes, traditional blepharoplasty is the best approach, but there are also many non-surgical options for under eye bags.

Yes under eye bags can be removed with a procedure called Lower Blepharoplasty. This procedure removes under eye bags by removing the skin laxity and fat excess that the eye bags are made of.

Under eye bags can easily be removed through a blepharoplasty procedure. To do this a small incision is made inside the eyelid where it is completely hidden. The fat area around the eye is then exposed and any excess fat is removed. Occasionally this procedure is coupled with removal of extra skin around the eye. The results are great and the recovery is very quick.

Yes. Lower lid bags can be removed forever if done correctlly. However, the fat bag can be used as a living implant to fill out the lower lid hollow or to highlight the checkbone.

Lower eyelid bags are usually genetic and removal is a common procedure called lower eyelid blepharoplasty. The bags are actually small pillows of fat which can be removed and thus removing the bulge. Call anytime for a virtual consultation if you wish to discuss the matter further and explore the best options for you. Good luck.

Of course. The latest technique is with laser through the conjunctiva. No pain, no scars.

Surgical removal of the lower lid fat pads can be done using a transconjunctival approach. That is where the incision is made inside of the eyelid so there are no visible scars

Yes. There are multiple techniques to remove under eye bags. There are even nonsurgical options to reduce the appearance of under eye bags.

Hi!

Yes, the under eye fat pads (bags) are normal either removed completely and/or redraped ("recycled") into your tear troughs (area of fat loss in aging) during a lower lid blepharoplasty cosmetic procedure. I also excise a small amount of skin if there is excessive skin along a tightening of the lower lids.

Absolutely. There is great surgical procedure to address that, particularly when fillers cannot address that.

Under eye bags can be easily removed. It is a lower lid belpharoplasty and there is often no scar as it is done through the inside of the lid. You need to be seen first to know if it is the proper procedure.

Yes. Go, only to an experienced plastic surgeon or an eye physician who does the procedure. And it is an out patient procedure. It can be done under a local anesthetic or general anesthesia.

Depending on the etiology and type of bag, some patients may do better with surgical blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) to trim or reposition the fat pads responsible for the bags. In the upper eyelids, this surgery typically removes a pinch of excess skin, while in the lower eyelid, extra skin may be removed via an incision under the lashes, or an incision may be hidden inside the eyelid. Mild-moderate eyelid bags may be treated with radiofrequency or heat contouring, such as the Accutite treatment. Depressions or tear troughs below the lower eyelids may be camouflaged with dermal fillers, such as Restylane. It is a good idea to consult with a Facial Plastic surgeon or Oculoplastic surgeon to get a thorough understanding of your specific treatment options.

In general yes. Most “lower eyelid bags” are caused by herniated fat pockets. Depending on your needs either an inside invisible incision is made or an outer skin incision, if skin needs to be excised. The fat pockets can be repositioned to cover deep tear through lines or if this is not a problem, simply excised. Hope I answered your question. Best is you seek the opinion of a qualified surgeon

YES AND A BIG YES TO THAT QUESTION.
PLEASE NOTE THOUGH THAT LOWER EYELID SURGERY IS 1000X MORE DIFFICULT THAN UPPER LID SURGERY.OFTEN A LOWER LID CHEEK LIFT AND FAT TRANSFER IS INDICATED /AS WELL AS A PROCEDURE THAT PREVENTS LOWER LID DROOPING AFTER SURGERY ( RETINACULAR SUSPENSION ).

It’s something our practice does all the time! Depending on the contour under the eyes, some people need the skin and muscle tightened and some, just fat- as always the individual’s circumstances dictate the best treatment. There is no need to look tired even when you’re not!
