• Why does my child keep getting strep?

My child gets strep twice per year. This has been happening the last 3 years and I'm really worried. Is there a serious problem?

Hello,

This is not unusual. It can occur due to one's immunity as well as exposure to strep through others.

Have your dr. do a strep test at the end of the antibiotic treatment to be sure the infection was cured completely. He may need an extended treatment (one month) to exterminate the bacteria or may end with a tonsillectomy

In probability, not. These infections are either airborne and or hand-borne. Depending on age, group hygiene is important factor, also frequent had washing
