Hi! So my 14 year old has been experiencing a cold for about a week. Yesterday she developed a sore on her lip. It's about the size of a pea. We are very concerned and don't know what to do. She also has pain under her jaw on the left side.
Looks like cold sore blistering, but probably should do an std panel to confirm herpes simplex type 1 or 2, and also PCP or dermatologist for a lesion biopsy.
Take her to your family doctor. Have a throat swab done. The tumor is most likely what is called a cold sore, which is caused by herpes simplex virus that is veru common/ It will pass, but a throat swab will give an indikation of whether a treatment can be found.
