My 8 year old son says he wakes up out of breath. Could a child have sleep apnea?

While children can often have sleep apnea, the symptom you describe will almost never be from childhood sleep apnea. Usual symptoms would be snoring. There may also be daytime inattention or learning difficulties. A pediatric evaluation would be appropriate.
