Could low platelet count be due to arthritis?
My mom’s recent blood test reports showed a low platelet count. She has been suffering from arthritis for the last 4 years. Could the low count be because of her arthritis or does it indicate an infection in the body?

The major question is how low the platelet count is. A low count is not likely secondary to arthritis, nor is it associated with anything other than a life-threatening infection.
