• Does alcohol cause blood pressure to drop?

My father is 66, and he drank alcohol yesterday. Today his blood pressure dropped significantly. Could this be because of the alcohol?

Thank you for the question
Drinking alcohol can be a cause for Low BP as it tends to make you urinate more and lose body fluid. So, make sure your father is well hydrated and encourage him to stop drinking, as alcohol is the most harmful drink to our body and affects our mental, physical, psychosocial, and financial well-being negatively.

Yes, drinking too much alcohol can raise blood pressure. Having more than three drinks in one sitting temporarily increases your blood pressure, but repeated binge drinking can lead to long-term increases. In addition, alcohol contains additional calories that can lead to weight gain which can be a contributor to increased blood pressure.
