• Does anesthesia make you gassy?

I am a 28 year old male. I had excessive gas after anesthesia. Does anesthesia make you gassy?

No, it should not. But if you had laparoscopic surgery, that may make you gassy.

No. I’m not sure what surgery you had, but most likely it was related to the surgery. There is a possibility that nitrous oxide if used to keep asleep in conjunction with another inhaled anesthetic could have that effect.

There is a gas we use, nitrous oxide, that can make you feel like this. Also, in certain abdominal procedures under geta, you can have less intestinal movements and feel increased gas. I recommend you keep a diet before anesthesia. Avoid beans. cauliflower, and all foods that increase flatulence at least one day before.
