If versed was given prior to surgery, it causes amnesia until the medicine wears off, usually about 4-6 hours after it’s given. The anesthetic itself carries a risk of memory loss, although it is very low. This risk increases beyond 40 years old, but is very low for a 22 year old.

Disorientation could be a not long-term problem after general anesthesia, especially in the elderly.
