• Can drinking excessive amounts of water cause kidney disease?

I am working out to lose weight and the trainer has advised me to drink almost 5 liters of water. Can this cause any pressure or damage to my kidneys?

No. It doesn't cause CKD, but it can cause drop in sodium levels if you are drinking a lot, like more than 3 liters.
