• Are eating disorders a psychological issue or physical disease?

I think my sister has a binge-eating disorder. She's 28 years old, and she always eats. This started after our mom's death. Is an eating disorder a physical disease or a psychological problem? What doctor should she see?

It is a psychological disorder, see a psychiatrist followed by a therapist.

Eating disorders are usually a psychological problem, as it sounds, from your description, the situation with your sister. I advise that she see a psychotherapist who is familiar with eating disorders.

It’s both. She should see a psychiatrist and a therapist

Not necessarily, there are many issues for many things. Being it really started after her mom's death, she should be okay after 6 months or so. If it's been longer, then she needs closure, that's all. A little counseling can do wonders. Even life coaching or, even better, spiritual coaching!
