• Emergency Gum Surgery

I just found out I have to get emergency gum surgery due to seriously receding gums. I started invisalign 3 months ago. Is this going to be a problem and does gum surgery recovery take a long time?

Gum surgery typically takes about 24 weeks to heal completely. Although the healing times vary based on an individual's systemic health, any predisposing factors like malocclusion, smoking, vaping, general oral hygiene status. It should be possible to wear invisalign retainers after the surgery but please also consult with the orthodontist prior so that if any changes need to be made on the aligners that could be made accordingly.

You need at least 6 weeks to heal properly.
