• What can I give my child to gain strength during loose motions?

My son is having loose motions and vomiting. He is currently being treated for it, but he's now becoming very weak and I'm concerned. Is there anything that I can give to him that will help?

Chicken broth, applesauce, bananas, toast, crackers to start with. Frequent small feeds will help as well.

If he is weak, he could be dehydrated and need fluids. His electrolytes may show low potassium that could respond to bananas. Make sure you are following closely with your pediatrician.

You need to call your doctor immediately. This is not something to seek online help for because it is too urgent.

If your son is becoming very weak after vomiting and diarrhea, then he may be dehydrated and may need IV fluids. He needs to go to an ER with expertise in managing childhood illnesses.
