• hiv tests

hello
after 1.5 month's from unprotected relationship i noticed that one of my neck nodes was enlarged to 1.5 cm..i suspected that i was infected with hiv
so I did a test HIV 1 DNA by PCR on the 58th and third-generation antibodies in the laboratory on the110 and 140th day from the relation, can i count on these results that i am not infected or shall i do more tests ?

Hi, The new lab test will detect HIV antibodies at the 3 month mark after exposure with a 98.97% accuracy. It is extremely rare that these tests do not detect HIV, if you have concerns you could repeat the test at the 6 month mark. Remember that lymph nodes get enlarge or swallow due to numerous infections such as for example, common cold, ear or tooth infection, etc. Dr. Medellin

You can count on these tests, but have the node checked out for other diagnoses. Thanks for the question.
