• Hot flashes after menopause. Normal?

My mother is 70-years-old, and went through menopause when she was 55 years old. However, even though she's in seventies, she's still experiencing hot flashes. Is this normal?

"Hot flashes" in an elderly female may be causes by hormone deficiency or by certain medications. Occasionally "hot flashes" may be secondary to underlying cardiovascular disease. Discuss her complaints with her physician.

Unfortunately, hot flashes can persist even after we go through menopause. I would, however, recommend having her physician review all of her medications, because there are a handful of medications that we use that have a side effect of hot flashes.

Cannot say it's normal, but it happens. Herb medicine works well on it.
