• How are children affected by negligent parents?

My son is in middle school and his best friend is a bad influence on him. This boy is from a home that I know for a fact is completely neglectful. How do neglectful parents affect children?

As you would expect, very negatively.

There are many variables that may affect a child that is neglected - severity of neglect, personality of the child (how resilient they are), if child experiences physical, sexual abuse, involvement of drugs/alcohol, is the child malnourished, intellectual functioning of the child, sleep patterns, is the child also abused in school by being bullied, etc.
All those variables will play a part on how the child will respond but in general will affect their ability to develop in a healthy way, grades, health, and behaviors.

We are taught by them almost every action and thinking habit. Television and films do this also. So it all affects us.
