See your optometrist if you are unsure. Go in right away. If you have a red eye and discharge or blurry vision, you may have an infection

A watery red eye that is also itchy and that spreads to the other eye can be viral conjunctivitis. A red eye with goopy greenish yellow discharge is typically a bacterial conjunctivitis. Both are forms of pink eye and both can spread to other people.
Typical course of infection is 7-14 days.
It looks pink and you feel itch and watery
Viral infection resolved on its own. You won’t have yellow discharge classically seen in bacterial infections.
