• How can you tell the difference between a toothache and a sinus infection?

I am a 25 year old female. I want to know the difference between a toothache and a sinus infection?

If the tooth is an upper back tooth it may be difficult. Lower teeth do not imitate sinus infections.

Very difficult. Have to rule one or the other out. If suffering from a sinus infection it is best to wait until that is under control first. If pain is severe please visit your dentist.

With thorough diagnostic test/evaluation we can sometimes differentiate. But without clinical evaluation it’s not easy to diagnose.

Move your head in different positions, intrasinal pressure will change.

If you bend forward from your waist until your upper body is parallel to the floor, a sinus infection would probably cause more pain. However, an infected tooth in the upper jaw can infect your sinus. Bottom line....see a dentist for a diagnosis.
Good luck.

A toothache is constant pain. Sinus infection pain can change with repositioning of the head.

The difference is very pronounced. Tooth and sinus ache, especially the maxilla, can be confusing. Additional tests to isolate the symptoms will help.

There is a lot that needs to be considered in order to diagnose either option. You are more than welcome to come in and have one of the doctors take a look to diagnose your specific case.

It's tough. Go and check with your dentist. Your doctor can evaluate and see which is which. It is hard to do it yourself at home.
